There is nothing worse than the incessant barking of a dog.   If it`s our dog that`s making the noise then it`s a real problem.   We live on top of each other and this kind of behaviour can cause neighbour disputes and even eviction in apartments if it is deemed that we are not in control of our dog..   However barking dog training is not difficult with the right equipment.

We do not want our dog to stop barking altogether, that would be like expecting a human being never to talk.   In any case a barking dog is second to none as a burgler alarm.

What we as dog owners need to do is control the barking dog, training him when it’s appropriate to bark and then stop on our command.    There are several good reasons why dogs bark.   A dog barks to communicate a message, show excitement or draw attention.    Command barks, need barks, playful barks, alarm barks and warning barks are all legitimate.   We have a behavioural problem when barking becomes continuous.

By training your dog to bark on command you could also enable you to control your dog to be quiet on command.   If you do not have the time or patience to do this don’t give up hope because there are several devices which can offer a quick remedy.

1 Ultrasonic.
Stand alone ultrasonic devices automatically send out a high pitched sound which distracts the dog from its barking.   There are several versions of these; collars, stand alone and hand held devices.   Collar devices react whenever the dog barks   The stand alone device is usually put in the home or garden   A bonus of this device is that it can be used to intetrupt your neighbour’s dogHandheld ultrasonic devices have a button on them which on pressing sends out a correction signal.   These are a useful addition to your arsenal if you encounter barking dogs when out walking or jogging.

2 Spray Devices.
Citronella bark collars are spray devices.   They spray citronella when your dog barks and most dogs do not like it so it provides negative reinforcement every time.

3 Electronic.
Nuisance barking has a rapid and reliable answer in the electronic bark collar, Many professional dog trainers swear by them.   Electronic bark collars are considered by some to be cruel or inhumane.   The modern electronic collar is very clever and not at all cruel as they might have been a few years ago. They work by giving the dog a mild shock.   The first and mildest shock is triggered by the dog’s first bark The shock is increased slightly if the dog bark again within 30 seconds otherwise it resets   Continuous barking will eventually raise the shock to its 6th and final level.   There are lots of safety measures built in now, for instance, if your dog barks fifteen times during a period of 50 seconds the collar shuts off for three minutes and resets.

So this is how to stop dog barking   There is no need to put up with continuous dog barking.   Barking dog training with one of the three methods outlined above needs no expertise to use and is usually effective immediately.

Golden Retriever Puppy House Training Tips

Even if your Golden Retriever pup has an accident in your home, (and let’s be honest here, it’s bound to happen), it is imperative when house training puppies to avoid handing out punishment. Be patient with your Golden Retriever pup. Puppies cannot hold it as long as older dogs. If you catch your puppy eliminating in the house, interrupt them with a loud noise or whatever cue you have chosen for “bathroom.” Immediately take them outside and reward them with praise or a treat if they finish their business in the proper place.  If they do not go to the bathroom in the yard, they may have already finished inside. Do not reward them but do not punish them either. They won’t understand WHY you are punishing them at this point, and without the “why,” punishment it not only ineffective but potentially damaging to your relationship with your pet as well.
