Which type of indoor potty to use for puppy potty training?
If you’ve decided to house train your puppy indoor, then you would be looking into a number of indoor potty options to use for your puppy potty training. Described below are three main types of puppy potty, choose one type of potty that work best for you and your puppy.
Newspapers
Newspapers serve as a cheap and readily available indoor doggie bathroom. Great for cost-conscious pet owners, and is environment friendly, too, since you are reusing old newspapers.
The drawback of using newspapers as your puppy’s potty is perhaps you need good ’skill’s and care to pick up the papers with poop and pee on top, without dripping them onto the floor. And you need to make sure you clean up your puppy’s mess right away, otherwise she may walk through her own puddle and dirty the floor.
Litter boxes
Litter boxes make puppy potty aesthetically pleasing and much easier to clean than newspapers. The advantage of using litter box compared to newspapers, is that it control dog waste odor and protect your floor.
The things you need to potty train your puppy with litter box are a litter box (or tray or pan), where there are walls on three sides and an opening on the fourth to allow easy entry, and recycled paper or wood pulp as the main ingredients of the litter.
Puppy training pads
Puppy training pads, or known as pee pads, serve as alternative to newspapers and litter boxes for potty training a puppy. Those pee pads are basically made of absorbent layers of paper that are back by a layer of plastic and are sealed around the edges. There are different sizes of pee pads to choose from.
The advantage of puppy training pads is that it prevents your puppy’s puddle from soaking through the floor, unlike using layers of newspapers. It’s easier to clean up afterward as well. The downside is – your puppy may prefer to chew up the training pads than using it as her potty. You may end up with waste AND shredded pads to clean up.
